CCIM launched compilation of investigative reports: “Looking at the Economic Development in Cambodia”

Attended by some 30 people who are journalists and representatives of civil society organizations, CCIM presented the compilation of investigative stories it produced during the year into a report entitled “Looking at the Economic Development in Cambodia”

The compilation of investigative stories includes: 1] “Kouy ethnic groups in Preah Vihear province fell indebted to banks after Chinese companies come to invest”; 2]  “Chinese incursion on business in Preah Sihanouk province”; 3] “Mega investment encroaching on two fishing communities in Kampot”; and 4] Indigenous Punong villagers’ income affected by entry of foreign firm”.

When asked what are the recommendations of the report, Mr. Danny Caspe of CCIM replied that the reports are not research studies but journalistic reports that describes the situation and the effects of these development activities in the areas, and it is up to the government to look into these projects and businesses that the government has approved if they comply with the agreements and laws.
