Winners of radio drama script writing contest receive their awards

Three radio drama scripts, out of 69 entries, were selected and the authors were awarded with a laptop worth $755 and smartphones worth $680, for first, second, and third winners, respectively, in a simple awarding ceremony at CCIM office last January 23.

Aiming to raise awareness and promote gender equality, during the last quarter of 2019 under the project “Voices for Gender Equality” with support from European Union, CCIM launched a Radio Drama Script Writing contest with the theme “Women Violation on Social Media”.

The contest aims to inspire and encourage creative writers to participate in spreading the gender issues through creative platforms. In this contest, a team of five judges is created to screen the submitted entries through a rigorous process and select three winning entries.

A total of 69 entries were received at the end of the deadline, but 62 stories were shortlisted to undergo the screening process. The background and name of the authors were cropped out in the shortlisting and screening process. The first screening resulted to the selection of 15 entries, and followed by the selection of the top five radio drama stories.

The screening of top 5 stories became more competitive as the authors of the radio drama scripts were asked to present and defend their stories in front of the judges. Each author was given 10 minutes to present their stories and followed by questions from the judges for 20 minutes.  The criteria in this screening process include four categories: duration & presentation, theme of the story, creativity & realistic, and question & answer.

The titles of the winning entries are: “Sister” for the first prize, “True Love” for the second, and “The Facebook Court” for the third prize. These winning entries will be produced by CCIM’s VOD radio production team and will be aired on radio and online channel of CCIM.

The second competition for radio drama script writing will be launched within the year.
