Winners Receive Awards of Short Video Competition on Gender

A month after the announcement of the winners of the short video competition with the theme “Gender Equality for Next Generation” early of June on Voices for Equality Facebook page, the people behind the top 10 videos were gathered together in a simple awarding ceremony on July 3, 2020.

During the ceremony, the participants were asked to share their experience in joining the competition. Almost all of them expressed that it was their first time to produce a video for a competition. The experience in producing the videos, from writing the script, shooting the video clips, organizing and finalizing the videos, and the stories behind the scenes are uniquely interesting, they said. This experience somehow inspires them to participate in more competitions in the future.

The videos produced by these young men and women convey a common message of empowering women and young girls not to be suppressed by social norms and other so-called inequality traditions which show preference to men.  One participant whose video content is focused on LGBTIQ expressed her hopes when the word “gender” is mentioned people should not only see it only as a matter between men and women, but also LGBTIQs persons.

The event ended with a solidary dinner and the participants showed their appreciation to CCIM for the great opportunity given to them to contribute in spreading the message in promoting gender through the short videos.  They expressed their commitment to support CCIM through other platforms in the future.
