The Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) is a media development organization engaged in the following activities: training of journalists and aspiring journalists, promotion and training on media and information literacy; training and networking with citizen journalists, and advocacy on media-related rights.

Position        : Media Training Coordinator

Location          : Phnom Penh

Work Status    : Full Time

Manage           : Training Officer & Project Assistant

Report to         : Senior Program Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Media Training Coordinator is responsible in managing the training program of CCIM which focuses on providing training programs to young Cambodian journalists, communication officers of CSOs, media students, and citizen journalists.

Duties:

  1. Develop training programs for the target groups and prepare CCIM’s capacity to deliver the trainings coordinate daily activities and ensure that the project plan is successfully implemented and achieved
  • Map out annual training plans for the target groups based on the training needs assessments conducted
  • Design and develop training programs using appropriate training methods or approaches
  • Marketing available training programs to the target groups and collaborating with journalists’ associations, media learning institutions, and CSOs for training programs
  • Maintain a database or collection of updated media training curriculum and programs
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment
  1. Implement training projects in accordance to the project agreement and agreed plans
  • Prepare and update work plan for delivery of approved training projects
  • Regularly review the expenditure of the training projects to ensure that budget is used accordingly and financial procedures and supporting documents are complied
  • Supervise, assist and monitor the carrying out of tasks of the members of the training project team to ensure that activities are carried out accordingly and deliverables are timely produced.
  • Regularly update the head of the department on the progress of the training projects.
  1. Coordinate and work closely with other department to ensure smooth implementation of the training project
  • Coordinate with other departments and units to ensure that activities of the project assigned to staff in respective departments/ units are properly integrated in their departments/units plans
  • Coordinate closely with the finance unit to ensure that budgets for the activities are expended accordingly and unused budget are addressed timely
  • Work closely with other staff of the department assisting in the implementation of the activities of the project
  1. Ensure proper monitoring and reporting of the project
  • Collaborate with the M&E Officer in preparing the M&E plan in accordance to the agreed M&E of the projects.
  • Facilitate preparation of periodic reports, such as progress reports, annual reports and end of the project reports, as required by the project and finalize them in collaboration with M&E Officer.
  1. Communication and Representation
  • Maintain good relationships with respective donor and target groups to ensure smooth and effective communication.
  • Represent CCIM and promote its respective project at meetings and other events when it required.

Job Requirement:

  • Cambodian nationality. Women are encouraged to apply.
  • Relevant education in media, communications, and media, or any other related field.
  • At least, 2 years’ experience in delivering trainings within media environment
  • At least, 2 years’ experience in journalism and media work
  • Relevant experience in program and project management
  • Experience in developing concept note and project proposals related to training programs
  • Sound understanding of Cambodian media landscape and other issues related to human rights, freedom of expression, access to information, and press freedom.
  • Genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills and ability to manage sensitive issues with various stakeholders while motivating others.
  • Excellent spoken and written Khmer language skills
  • Can communicate in spoken and written English language
  • A passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media, promote human rights and democratic governance.
